Our Team...

Our work is about one thing above all else – the individual development of your child. Downs Preschool carefully screens and interviews teachers to ensure that they meet our high educational standards.

Our educators regularly participate in advanced training sessions and continuing education classes to ensure that they are always up-to-date with fresh ideas and sound teaching principles.

Each year our teachers complete 15 hours of Ga. Pre-K mandated training on various topics. These classes are required by Ga. Pre-K and are taught by the Early Childhood Education department at Georgia State University.

All staff and faculty members also refresh CPR, 1st Aid, Anaphylaxis and EpiPen use, Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting, and Infectious Disease Control every year during pre-planning. These courses are taught by our director Lisa Henry who is a licensed EMS level III Instructor and a Ga. Pre-K approved specialty trainer.

In addition to the mandated 15 hours, our staff has access to a school wide training subscription to the Childcare Education Institute. This is an online training program and all classes are approved by Ga. Pre-K. Each staff/faculty member will complete 2 hours of traing each month therefore adding an additional 20 hours of training over the school year. This is a great opportunity as teachers can choose from over 100 courses (with new ones being added all the time) in topics such as curriculum, assessment, behavior management, special needs, brain development, health and safety, stress management and playground safety just to name a few. The courses are classified as either beginner, intermediate and advanced competency levels.

We’re proud of our staff members and all that they do! This is who we are:
